Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is it necessary to have testing done on my garments or fabric ?
Retailers set performance standards with which the goods they sell must comply. This is in order to establish a minimum quality level of their goods and ensure that their customers, i.e. the consumers, are satisfied. If you want to become a supplier to a specific high street retailer, you will need to have your products tested to these minimum requirement standards. If you do not have an accredited laboratory, TexTesT will carry out the testing for you.

2. How long does it take to have something tested ?
The normal turnaround time is typically 4 - 5 working days from receipt of work. However, during periods of high work load, e.g. just before seasonal call-off by the retailers, the turnaround times may be longer. For the purpose of timing, work received after 1.00 pm is treated as being received the following working day. Test procedures which take longer than 5 days and investigative work will be reported when the work is complete.

3. What quantity of fabric or garments do I need to send in for testing ?
Sample size generally depends on the tests required. The following are some general size requirements:
Abrasion, 18 in. 18 in.
Colorfastness, 12 in. x 12 in.
Dimensional stability, 18 in. by full width or 1 garment
Fiber Composition, 18 in. x 18 in. or 2 pattern repeats
Flammability, wearing apparel, 18 in. x full width or 1 garment
Strength, 36 in. x full width

5. When I submit fabric to TexTesT for testing, is there any further information I need to tell you ?
